A West Hollywood luxury hotel gives discerning guests the entertainment options they expect

A new luxury hotel in West Hollywood, California had a tall order: provide guests with a premium entertainment experience that would meet its extensive brand requirements, match its luxury concept and service 60 room types. Darrin Pinkham, founder and president of D2 Technology Hospitality Consulting, was up for the challenge.

Meeting luxury standards

The hotel owners didn’t want satellite dishes marring the view on the roof, which contained a pool, bar and helipad. Pinkham knew he needed a terrestrial-based service that could deliver programming in Internet Protocol (IP) format. This systems-integrator agnostic service would support over 200 channels, and when paired with a video systems integration platform, provide an interactive entertainment experience.

Pinkham turned to Spectrum Enterprise, who he had successfully worked with on other projects. The Spectrum Enterprise Fiber Connect Plus TV for Hospitality service, delivered in IP format, checked all Pinkham’s boxes. Due to the hotel’s stringent standards, however, he would have to bring in equipment from other companies to deliver the service to the hotel TVs. He brought all the vendors together and developed a plan.

A plan comes to life

Spectrum Enterprise extended two fiber circuits into the hotel to support the Fiber Connect Plus TV service. Pinkham then worked to integrate the service with the video system, which routes the programming to the in-room TVs. With expert coordination, the solution was installed in four months, meeting the project plan deadline.

IP-delivered TV service elevates the guest experience

Today, the hotel easily meets brand standards and guest expectations with a 225-channel lineup. The entertainment solution also allows the hotel to provide custom content including fitness classes.
