Supermarket chain powers expansion by leveraging a unified fiber network
“They didn’t like having multiple vendors. They wanted one vendor to basically do everything end-to-end. Spectrum Enterprise made sure they understood that by choosing us, they were choosing a future than can count on.” — Dan Thomas, Spectrum Enterprise Account Manager
It began as an engagement to improve connectivity at four supermarkets. It soon grew into a network revamp of an entire supermarket chain comprising over sixty locations.
Across California, Nevada and Arizona, the chain’s stores satisfy strong and growing demand for quality Latin American cuisine. But being spread out across three states meant the fast-expanding chain had to work with a multitude of broadband and wireless carriers and service level agreements (SLAs) that too often failed to meet their needs. They wanted a single technology partner they could count on.
The supermarket chain realized Spectrum Enterprise had the unmatched ability to improve bandwidth and reliability at all their locations, to facilitate a better network and maximize opportunities to satisfy their customers with speedier checkouts and discount-pricing opportunities.
Working with the client, Spectrum Enterprise set up a Fiber Internet Access solution at all locations, providing low-latency connectivity with full-on reliability at every cash register. Wireless Internet was added as an economical redundant circuit at all stores.
The supermarket chain needed more to achieve their growth plans, including the latest in edge technology as well as SD-WAN, security, routing and WiFi access. Spectrum Enterprise set up Managed Network Edge for a secure, turnkey, all-in-one solution.
“There were two parts of this project,” Spectrum Enterprise Account Manager Dan Thomas says. “One was providing the connectivity. The second part was for their internal network — their firewall and managed switches. What helped us secure the business was fair pricing and showing our expertise. We were able to give them confidence that we could truly support their needs.”
